Memorial plaque to Viktor Tsoi

On October 15, 2021, a memorial plaque in honor of the famous singer and musician Viktor Tsoi was solemnly unveiled on the facade of the Baltic International Academy. It was opened by the author of the project, a great connoisseur and admirer of Tsoi’s work, a member of the board of the “Pareiza lieta“ society Ruslan Vereshchagin and the chairman of the Senate of the BIA, professor Stanislav Buka, who supported this project.

Ruslan Vereshchagin recalled that on April 15, 1987, Viktor Tsoi, as part of the Pop Mechanics musical ensemble, performed on the stage of the DC RKIIGA, which later became an integral part of the Baltic International Academy, where today there are many admirers of Tsoi’s work.

Stanislav Buka noted that this building at 1/4 Lomonosov Street has a rich history, many famous writers and astronauts, musicians and singers performed here. Among them is the famous bard Vladimir Vysotsky, in honor of whom in 2013 a memorial plaque was installed on the same building and a museum was created. So our students can proudly say: we studied in the building where Viktor Tsoi and Vladimir Vysotsky performed.

On the same day, an informative photo exhibition was opened at the academy. Rare photographs reflect the creative path of Viktor Tsoi, his friends and like-minded people.
