A bright and cheerful celebration for lovers of fine arts was the opening of the Great Spring Exhibition at our Baltic International Academy, which was organized by the student gallery BiArt. It was attended by artists and their admirers, students, lecturers and guests of the BIA. Among them were representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with which our academy has long-standing friendly ties.
This was noted in the speeches at the opening of the exhibition by the Chairman of the BIA Senate Stanislav Buka, the Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ainur Akhmetova, the curator of the exhibition, member of the Union of Artists of Latvia Valentin Danilenko, and culturologist Irina Markina. They congratulated the artists on a great and important event in their lives and wished them new creative success.
Even the most fastidious visitors have something to see and be surprised at at this spring exhibition. There are about two hundred paintings by artists from England, Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, China, Tatarstan, and Ukraine at the exhibition on three floors. A large section of the exhibition is represented by works of artists from the group “Free Art”, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
The exposition of works by Kazakh artists donated to the Baltic International Academy also attracted the well-deserved attention of fine art lovers. They have been placed in two special classrooms, which are also available on study days.
Among participants of the exhibition there are many famous artists – Edgar Mickelson, Marie Chang, Babken Stepanyan, Ersin Temirgaliev, Vladimir Pavlov, Irina Trumpele, Maria Abduyeva, Oleg Makovoy, Nikolai Krivoshein. The exhibition is complemented by art works of photographers Vladimir Starkov, Evgeny Pugin and Yulia Shved.
Following a good tradition, the best works were awarded diplomas of the Baltic International Academy. The winners of the exhibition were the artist from Kazakhstan Igor Gushchin, Latvians Evgeny Shitov and Igor Filippov. Student prizes were awarded to the works of residents of Latvia Vladimir Pavlov, Evgenia Sundeyeva and Ukrainian artist Katerina Baranova.
The exhibition is located in the BIA building on ¼ Valeria Seile (Lomonosova) Street and will last until May 25.
