The International Seminar on the topic “Reporting Standards in the Field of Sustainable Development”, which was held at the reputable Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, attracted keen interest in European universities. It was organised by the European Accounting Association, a member of which is Zanna Cernostana, chief accountant and assistant professor of our Baltic International Academy.

The seminar was attended by about a hundred teachers of accounting from higher education institutions in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Latvia and other European countries. In the focus of attention of participants was getting acquainted with European reporting standards in the field of sustainable development and student teaching methods. Especially interesting were the workshops conducted by lecturers from the universities of Tilburg, Frankfurt, Milan, Bamberg and Burgos. They have already developed and included educational resources on sustainable development in their curricula.

As the Assistant Professor of the BIA Zanna Cernostana noted, this seminar significantly expanded the understanding of European sustainability reporting standards and their application in business. The experience of European colleagues will undoubtedly be used in developing study programmes at our academy.
