BIA researchers participated in the International Expert Conference "Russo-Ukrainian War 2022-2023. Origins, causes, course and effects"

On 15 - 16 June, the International Expert Conference "Russo-Ukrainian War 2022-2023. Origins, causes, course and effects" organised by the Józef Goluchowski University of Applied Sciences was held with great success in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski (Poland).

More than 100 participants from different countries attended the opening ceremony of the conference, among them senators and generals from the Republic of Poland. The Rector of the Academy, Pawel Gotowiecki, made a welcoming speech, and the representative of the President of Poland Andzej Duda, congratulated the conference organisers and awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit to an honorary professor at the Academy.

67 presentations by experts in international relations, security sciences, law, sociology and medicine from 16 countries (Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Denmark, Italy, Germany, USA, Great Britain, India, Azerbaijan and Georgia) presented diverse viewpoints on military events. Latvia was represented at the conference by BIA As.prof. Tatjana Jurkeviсa and Docent Irina Gaft.

The conference was accompanied by author sessions, thematic forums and exhibitions of military equipment. The presented papers aroused great interest due to their scientific novelty and practical relevance. Many of the speeches resonated with conference participants.

In addition to speeches, political scientist, Prof. Pawel Soroka presented a new monograph "Selected aspects of the Russian aggression against Ukraine in the political, military and economic spheres", touching on the consequences of the war on Poland's defense system and socio-economic development.

The conference was a landmark event, arousing great interest in universities and higher education institutions in EU countries and attracting the attention of a wide foreign public.
