The new solo exhibition by the famous Latvian artist Edgar Mickelson, which was organised by the BiArt student gallery, aroused great interest among students, lecturers and guests of our Baltic International Academy. He called it “Drafts and Sketches” and, in fact, invited admirers of fine art to take a closer look at his creative workshop.
-Edgar Mickelson is a long-time friend of our academy and student gallery, noted its curator, member of the Union of Artists of Latvia Valentin Danilenko when opening the exhibition. - His first solo exhibition was held at our academy on the initiative of art historian and friend of artists Svetlana Khayenko back in 2003. Since then he has been a welcome guest at exhibitions of the BiArt gallery. Moreover, a special classroom of the academy has been allocated for his paintings. His works always delight with their realism, their special view of the world.
His works are well known outside Latvia. Five solo exhibitions by Edgar Mickelson were held in Brussels alone.
When speaking at the opening of the exhibition, the artist thanked the board and lecturers of the academy for their constant attention to his creative work and described the content of the new exhibition. He noted that it presents works from different years, sketches of Riga and Brussels and early sketches from the years when he studied at the Art Academy of Latvia.
The exposition of the exhibition is located in the BIA building at 4 Valeria Seile (Lomonosova) Street and is open during the working hours of the academy until the end of July.
