A group of students from the State University of Pula (Croatia) visited our Baltic International Academy under the ERASMUS+ international programme. The group was led by Associate Professor Irena Mikulaco, who has long-standing friendly ties with specialists from the BIA study programme “Translation and Interpreting”.
She delivered a series of lectures on translation theory and the peculiarities of modern communication and told how the University is preparing for the International Scientific Conference “Language, Translation and Cross-cultural Communication”, in the work of the organising committee of which BIA lecturer, Doctor of Philology Emma Arhangelska is participating.
The lectures of the famous specialist from Croatia were well complemented by a discussion on the prospects of development of the theory and practice of translation and cross-cultural communication, during which a useful exchange of experience in studying this area took place.
As Nikola Ribic, a third-year student at the University of Pula, noted during the discussion, during his visit to Riga and the Baltic International Academy he learned a lot of interesting and useful things for acquiring his future profession.
