International exhibition “Latvia – China”

The new international painting exhibition “Latvia – China” in the BiArt student gallery aroused great interest among lecturers, students and guests of our Baltic International Academy. It presents paintings by famous artists from China and Latvia, which were created based on the traditions of modern Chinese art schools. Latvia is represented in the exhibition by the works of Alena Savyuk, Ekaterina Bai, Vera Grota, Tatyana Khmelyova, while China – by Li Shusian, Mary Zhang, Anna Li, Yao Yizhou.

At the opening of the exhibition, which was attended by the attaché of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China Fan Shengqiu, the director of the China Cultural Centre Nan Wang, many kind words were said to the participants and organisers of the exhibition.

Thus, BIA professor Tatyana Yurkevich, on behalf of the academy, congratulated the artists on the new exhibition of original works, wished them new creative success and noted that this exhibition will undoubtedly expand the understanding of the academy’s students and lecturers about contemporary Chinese art.

The curator of the exhibition, member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia Valentin Danilenko noted that the new meeting with Chinese art is interesting not only for artists, but also for other lovers of Eastern culture.

The director of the China Cultural Centre Nan Wang thanked the Baltic International Academy for organising the informative exhibition of Chinese art and expressed confidence that it will contribute to the development of friendly relations between the peoples of Latvia and China.

The exposition of the exhibition is located in the BIA building at Valerijas Seiles Street 1/4 and is open during the working hours of the academy until October 23.
