Scientific ties with higher education institutions of Kazakhstan are strengthening

Our Baltic International Academy has developed diverse scientific and creative ties with higher education institutions of Kazakhstan. Many students from Kazakhstan received diplomas of European standard at the BIA. Three doctoral students from Kazakhstan defended their doctoral dissertations in the BIA doctoral programme. Representatives of higher education institutions regularly take part in scientific conferences held at our academy, and the BIA scientists are welcome guests at conferences in Kazakhstan.

A new contribution to strengthening scientific ties between higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and the BIA was made by a visit to our academy from Zhibek Rakhmetulina, Professor of the Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and Tana Abylaikhanova, Head of the Department of Postgraduate Education of the Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. They got acquainted with the organisation of the study process and scientific research of the BIA, visited information centres, a scientific library, and classrooms where paintings by artists of Kazakhstan are exhibited.

During the visit, they met with the Chairman of the BIA Senate Stanislav Buka, Vice-Rector for Science Vladislav Volkov, Vice-Rector for International Relations Inta Buka, and the head of the programmes of the study field “Hotel and Restaurant Service, Tourism and Recreation Organisation” Zhanna Tsaurkubule. During these meetings, the prospects for developing scientific and creative ties between the universities were discussed and amendments were made to long-term cooperation agreements.

Guests from Kazakhstan acquainted their Latvian colleagues with the grant “Human capital management, improving the quality of labour resources in the context of digital economy development” and invited BIA scientists to take part in the implementation of this project. In particular, Professor Zhanna Tsaurkubule was invited to become a scientific consultant. In turn, scientists from Kazakhstan expressed a wish to take part in a scientific and practical conference to be held at the BIA in December and to prepare articles for the BIA scientific journal – “Baltic Journal of Legal and Social Sciences”.
