The exhibition “ABSTRACTION”, which was organised by the BIArt student gallery under the guidance of its permanent curator, member of the Union of Artists of Latvia Valentin Danilenko, aroused great interest among students, teaching staff and guests of our Baltic International Academy. And this is not difficult to understand – abstract art has always had and has many lovers and critics, and each of them has their own view of it.
The Chairman of the Senate of the BIA Stanislav Buka also noted this when opening the exhibition. He rightly noted that any abstract painting, willingly or unwillingly, can “catch” the eye, make you think, discover something new in the surrounding world. And it is especially useful for young people to get acquainted with different types of abstract art not in words, but through visual examples.
Stanislav Buka recalled that the great master of abstract art, Artur Nikitin, whose works are known far beyond Latvia, had worked at our academy for a long time. Abstract paintings by the exhibition curator Valentin Danilenko, who introduced its participants and noted that they are also successful in the field of realism, have also gained popularity abroad.
Among them are famous artists Vladimir Pavlov, Nikolay Krivoshein, Olga Zhuravlyova, Mairita Tsoneva. The paintings by artists from Kazakhstan Igor Gushchin, Gulnara Suinbayeva, Zhazira Ayagan organically fit into the exposition.
The exhibition is located in the BIA building at 1/4 Valerijas Seiles (Lomonosova) Street and will last until December 15.
