The opening of the Great Spring Exhibition, which was organised by the BIArt gallery, became a bright and joyful celebration for art lovers at our Baltic International Academy. Artists and admirers of their creative activity, students, lecturers and guests of the BIA took part in it. Among them was the third secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Latvia Ainur Akhmetova, who warmly thanked our academy for its attention to the artists from Kazakhstan during the opening ceremony.
Following a good tradition, the new exhibition has an international character. In the exposition on two floors, there are about one hundred paintings of various themes and styles by artists from Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, China and Ukraine.
There are many well-known artists among the participants of the exhibition - Edgar Mikelson, Vladimir Pavlov, Irina Trumpele, Maria Matveeva, Nikolai Krivoshein, Lyudmila Perets. The exposition is enriched by the artistic works of photographers Vladimir Starkov, Evgeny Pugin, Yulia Shved.
When opening the exhibition, the rector of the BIA, associate professor Vladislav Volkov rightly noted that within the walls of our academy, art constantly coexists with science. Both science and art are the most important ways of understanding the world. And the exhibition will undoubtedly expand students’ understanding of the world around them.
The curator of the exhibition, member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia Valentin Danilenko congratulated the artists on the big and important event in their lives, wished them new creative successes and announced the results of the competitions among the participants of the exhibition. Special certificates of the BIA were awarded for the national style of works by Serik Tainov, the creative approach of Maria Matveyeva, the professionalism of Larisa Shellare, the originality of paintings by Irina Pomyanskaya. The audience award was adjudged to paintings by Vladimir Pavlov, Silvija Adamoviciene, Honge Zhang, Maria Abduyeva, Serik Tainov.
The exhibition is located in the educational building of the BIA at 1/4 Valerijas Seiles Street and will last until May 1. Entrance is free during the working hours of the academy.
