Solo exhibition by a graduate of the BIA

The solo exhibition by the BIA graduate and a member of the International Writers Association Yulia Shved, organised by the BIArt gallery, aroused great interest among students, teaching staff and guests of our Baltic International Academy. Visitors had a good opportunity to compare the results of her creative work both in artistic photography and on art canvases. In addition, most of the themes of the exhibition were inspired by the photographer and artist’s travels to Scotland, Kenya, India, Nepal, and her acquaintance with the famous Himalayas.

The presentation of the exhibition, which was conducted by Yulia Shved, was also interesting and creative. Yulia Shved was using the skills that she acquired at the BIA as a student of the “Cultural Project Management” programme.

Her emotional story about Nepal was well complemented by a video series of photographs, and her memories of Scotland were accompanied by poems by Robert Burns, which were read in English by lecturer Diana Bolgare. Yulia Shved also introduced her teacher in fine arts, the famous artist Irina Trumpele, in an original way. She asked Irina Trumpele to conduct a lesson in watercolour painting for the listeners.

In her speech, Yulia Shved remembered with kind words our academy, lecturer Irina Markina, curator of the BIArt gallery Valentin Danilenko, whom she helped organise artist exhibitions within the walls of the BIA during her years of study, and who awakened her interest in creativity and cognition of the world.

The curator of the gallery, member of the Union of Artists of Latvia Valentin Danilenko congratulated Yulia Shved on her new creative success, presented her with a certificate for a solo exhibition and noted that such graduates greatly contribute to the good reputation of the Baltic International Academy, where new talents are discovered.
