The academic year has ended at the “Silver University”

The fourth academic year of the “Silver University” has ended in a creative and friendly atmosphere at our Baltic International Academy. This is a unique charity project of the BIA, since classes at the University are offered free of charge to inhabitants of Riga of silver age. Its creative endeavours are also supported by a special grant from the well-known charitable foundation “Nākotnes Atbalsta fonds”, which makes it possible to expand and update the University’s curricula.

This academic year, interesting and informative lectures were delivered by culturologist Irina Markina, psychologist Vera Krievina, lawyer Konstantin Matveyev, historian Tatyana Kuzmina, philologist Oksana Filina and other lecturers. Each of them is a recognised authority in their field of knowledge, highly valued by the BIA students.

At the final class, the permanent coordinator of the “Silver University”, leading researcher of the BIA Oksana Filina thanked the BIA lecturers for useful and topical lectures, warmly congratulated the listeners on the successful completion of the academic year and invited them to continue attending classes in September. The listeners of the University were given questionnaires with suggestions for improving the study process.

The listeners thanked the “Silver University” and its lecturers for their attention to the choice of lecture topics and creative approach to their delivery. As noted by a regular attendee, mathematician Inesa Tsukanova, the classes at the University not only broadened her horizons, but also prompted her to reconsider her attitude to the humanities and return to studies.
