Career day for secondary school students

Following a good tradition, Riga Secondary School No. 88 holds annual Career Days for secondary school students. Lecturers from leading Latvian higher education institutions are invited to participate. Representatives of our Baltic International Academy are always among them. This year, BIA was represented by programme directors Julija Mahmudova, Svetlana Polovko-Valtere, the head of the Admissions Committee Marina Lihushina and members of the Student Parliament Katrina Roke and Artjom Samsutdinov.

They told the secondary school students about the specific features of our academy, acquainted them with the study programmes and admission requirements, as well as answered numerous questions. In a professional and friendly atmosphere, an informal and useful discussion took place about choosing professions that are in demand today.

As Karina Saveljeva, the school’s career counsellor, noted, the meetings and discussions with representatives of our academy will undoubtedly be beneficial to the secondary school students. They broadened their understanding of the specifics of modern professions and their role in career development. She found it particularly useful for the secondary school students to interact with BIA students and receive first-hand information about the study process at the Baltic International Academy.
