All the colours of the world at the BIArt gallery

A bright and joyful celebration for lovers of visual arts was the opening of the large exhibition “THE WORLD OF COLOURS” at our Baltic International Academy, organised by the BIArt Gallery. The event brought together artists and their admirers, students, lecturers and guests of the BIA. The exhibition is international in nature. It features approximately 150 diverse paintings created by 70 artists from Latvia, China, the United States, Ukraine and Estonia. The new exhibition fully lives up to its title in every respect. It truly presents all the colours of the world, radiating joy and optimism. The exhibition successfully combines works by young talents and artists of the silver age.

As rightly noted by BIA Rector, Associate Professor Vladislav Volkov, while opening the exhibition, art has always coexisted alongside science within the walls of our Academy. Both science and art are among the most important ways of understanding the world. This exhibition will undoubtedly broaden students’ perceptions of the world around them.

In organising the exhibition, its curator, Valentin Danilenko, a member of the Latvian Artists’ Union, was supported by the art studios of Irina Trumpele, Valeriy Makovoy, Alexander Pakhomov, Maria Abduyeva and Elena Lvova. They contributed works by their best students, resulting in the participation of many interesting debut artists. Maria Abduyeva proudly presented not only her own paintings but also the works of her young daughters, Aisha and Ariana. Recognised masters of painting also delighted visitors with their latest works, including Valeriy Makovoy, Alyona Savyuk, Valentin Danilenko, Irina Trumpele, Lyudmila Perets, Maria Matveyeva, Mary Zhang and others.

On behalf of the visitors’ jury, Natalia Gratkovskaya, Director of the BIA Scientific Library, announced the results of the audience survey. The works by Galina Golubchikova, Polina Solomodenko, Mary Zhang, Igor Filipov, Sofia Sergeyeva, Valeria Bagirova and Elena Bondarevskaya received audience choice awards.A special diploma from Baltic International Academy and the BIArt Gallery for mastery and optimism expressed through watercolour painting was awarded to Valeriy Makovoy. Similar award was presented to Maria Abduyeva for her unique use of colour, to Irina Trumpele for promoting the art of ebru, to Lyudmila Perets for mastery and dedication to classical traditions, and to Alexander Pakhomov for preserving and promoting the traditions of the old masters.

The exhibition laureates sincerely thanked the Academy and the BIArt Gallery for their high appreciation of their creative work and for providing an opportunity to present their artworks to the public.

The exhibition is located on three floors of the Baltic International Academy building at 1/4 Valerijas Seiles Street and is open to visitors free of charge until July 15 during the Academy’s working hours.
