At the end of October, the Baltic International Academy successfully hosted a series of guest lectures delivered by Gerhard Krauss, an associate professor from Rennes 2 University (France), as part of the international ERASMUS+ programme. In his lectures, he analysed the formation and development of high-tech startups, the role of social relations and institutions in these processes, and the reasons behind both successes and failures. He paid special attention to the evolutionary approach to the emergence and development of organisations, formulated by the well-known American sociologist Howard Aldrich.
Together with BIA students, the lecturer examined specific case studies to explore the reasons why high-tech startups fail, as well as the importance of international integration in the creation of such organisations.
As noted by Julia Mahmudova, the head of the bachelor study programmes “European Economics and Business” and “Entrepreneurship Management”, who accompanied the guest from France during his visit to the Academy, these lectures sparked significant interest among the students and notably broadened their horizons.
