World poetry day at the BIA

Following a good tradition, on March 21, our Baltic International Academy celebrated the World Poetry Day, which has been held in many countries of the world since 1999 at the initiative of UNESCO. This year, the participants of the festive literary and musical evening at the BIA gave their attention to the poetical works of Maxim Gorky, who is better known as a talented prose writer.

For this evening, the famous poet and writer Vyacheslav Altukhov has prepared an informative theatrical performance based on the “Ballad about the Countess Ellen de Courcy” and the poem “The Girl and Death” by Maxim Gorky. In this performance, the parts of the heroines of these works were played by the BIA librarian Kristina Lyakhova and poetess Tatyana Ziborova. Their poetic performances were well complemented by bard Yuri Kulamov and poetess Iraida Kelmelene.

At the end of the evening, Vyacheslav Altukhov presented his new book “On the Waves of the Sea of Life” and gifted it to the BIA Central Scientific Library.
