Jean Monnet Summer School 2026 "The EU's Green Deal Beyond the EU: Geopolitics, Policies, Cooperation, and Development"

Dear students,

Our partner university – Eurasia International University (Armenia) – invites you to take part in the Jean Monnet Summer School “The EU’s Green Deal Beyond the EU: Geopolitics, Policies, Cooperation, and Development”, which will take place from 27 July to 7 August 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia, alongside the integrated International Youth Simulation of Biodiversity COP17 (5–7 August 2026).

Within the framework of the programme, applications are invited for:

This interdisciplinary programme bridges EU Studies, biodiversity governance, human rights, peace and resilience studies, sustainability governance, and science-policy interaction.

The Summer School will explore the external implications of the European Green Deal and the environmental dimension of EU external action through lectures, expert meetings, study visits, and policy-oriented discussions.

The COP17 Simulation will offer participants the opportunity to engage in:

  • multilateral negotiations
  • policy drafting and diplomacy
  • coalition-building and stakeholder dialogue
  • crisis-response scenarios
  • youth-led environmental governance discussions

Participants will take on the roles of country delegates, scientists and experts, civil society representatives, media observers, Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities and youth advocates.
The main themes include environmental human rights, biodiversity finance, climate adaptation and ecosystem restoration, science-policy interaction, inclusive governance, and synergies between the Rio Conventions and other areas of international law.

The programme corresponds to 6 ECTS credits: 4 ECTS for the Summer School and 2 ECTS for the Simulation.

Participation is free of charge. The organisers provide a limited number of accommodation possibilities for students from the regions of Armenia and international participants.
