Would you like to help our incoming international students settle into Riga, Latvia, and the Academy’s study environment?
By supporting incoming international students joining us this autumn term, you will have the opportunity to make new friends, enhance your language skills, join our international student community, discover new cultures, and create unforgettable memories — whether through organising and attending events or exploring Riga and Latvia together.
Every year, we welcome international degree and exchange students from various countries. Many of them need a helping hand, particularly during their first few months in Latvia.
A Student Buddy is a current student who meets and supports newly arrived international students as they adjust to our country, campus, and way of life.
As a Student Buddy, you can:
- help international students settle into a new environment and meet new people from day one;
- guide them through campus life and show them around Riga;
- provide practical assistance with daily tasks, public transport tickets, opening bank accounts, shopping, study timetables, and internal systems;
- share your study tips to help them navigate academic life;
- keep them in the loop regarding student events and activities.
We will hold a meeting for all registered Student Buddies to exchange ideas and plan joint activities.
As a Student Buddy, you should be available to support your assigned group from the Welcome and Orientation Week onwards.
Welcome and Orientation Week will take place from 7th to 11th September 2026 for both undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and postgraduate (Master’s) students.
Your attendance on the first day of Welcome and Orientation Week - including a brief self-introduction - is mandatory.
