The XXVI International Theatre Festival “Classics in Latvia”, which was held within the walls of the Baltic International Academy, received a lot of positive feedback among students, lecturers and guests of the BIA. Nine children and youth theatre groups from Germany, Latvia, Finland, and Estonia took part in it. During three days, they presented ten charming performances that were warmly received by the audience.
Representative of the BIA Student Parliament Anna Troshkova addressed the young theatre lovers with words of welcome. She noted that students are interested not only in science, but also in art in all its manifestations, because it enriches the intellectual and emotional baggage of any specialist.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Festival, the famous Latvian theatre director and creator of the theatre “AbaZhur” Aba Hertsbach thanked the Baltic International Academy for its assistance in organising the festival and expressed the hope that its programme will be interesting also for students.
The performances of young theatre lovers were met with interest not only by the audience, but also by experts, who were the famous playwrights Janis Jurkans and Igor Yakimov.
At the end of the festival, the best theatre groups and actors were awarded prizes. The Riga theatre “Wanderers” was awarded for the best group of actors, the theatre-studio “Step by Step” from Frankurt – for directing, the theatre studio “Musicians” from Helsinki – for scenography.
