Creativity lessons from Sergey Parajanov

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the presentation of the book “SERGEI PARAJANOV, CREATOR OF BEAUTY” was held at the European Centre of the Baltic International Academy. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous Armenian film director, artist and screenwriter, who was born in Tbilisi and worked in Armenia, Ukraine, Georgia.

This interesting and informative book was written and presented by a long-time friend of our Academy, a famous writer and publisher, member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia, Chairman of the Board of the Armenian Community of Riga Alexander Geronyan. In the beginning of this year, he had already presented a book-album about Parajanov, which was translated into Latvian by Vita Avotina. The author donated these books to the Scientific Library of the BIA.

The presentation included an interesting and friendly conversation about the features of the Master's creative work, its stages and role in the development of global cinematography. Even today, film directors from many countries learn from his films. More than twenty documentaries are dedicated to his work and life. In Armenia and Ukraine, he was awarded the title of People's Artist. In Yerevan, his memorial museum is very popular, in the creation of which the artistic and exhibition principles of Sergei Parajanov himself were used.

The author of the book was warmly thanked for his great work in perpetuating the memory of Sergei Parajanov by the head of the Uzbek Cultural Centre Alim Abdusaidov, the chairman of the Latvian-Georgian society “Samšoblo” Imedi Kokaia, the chairman of the association of national societies “Commonwealth” Artur Nevitsky and other participants of the presentation. And the famous bard Yuri Tikhomirov supplemented their performances with songs based on the poems of Armenian poets.
