The news that a well-known expert in Chinese and Japanese painting, artist Alyona Savyuk will give a masterclass of oriental painting at our Baltic International Academy, was well received by students, lecturers and guests of the BIA. Among them were the famous singer Maria Naumova, artist Maria Abduyeva, bard Alexander Kazakov. They all wanted to get acquainted with the big and small secrets of oriental painting.
The organiser of this extraordinary masterclass, coordinator of the student gallery BiArt Valentin Danilenko introduced the guests to Alyona Savyuk. He proudly reminded that as a philosopher she studied oriental philosophy, painting in China, calligraphy, trained with famous masters of oriental art Li Chzhe, Gun Suecin, Chzhou Bin and others. She participated several times at exhibitions of the student gallery BiArt.
The masterclass was held before the closure of the exhibition of her paintings “Simply Winter”. Alyona used it as an illustration of various examples of Chinese and Japanese painting, painting techniques and oriental symbols. Moreover, she psychologically prepared the participants of the masterclass for the creation of their own drawings of the daffodil well known to them.
She noted that the masters of oriental painting believe that when creating a drawing, there is no good or bad, there is no right or wrong. There is only what is called “real”. All participants of the masterclass became wittingly and unwittingly convinced of this, although many of them drew daffodils for the first time with Chinese ink on rice paper. During these three hours of creative work, they realised how true it is that an artist lives in every person. It is only necessary to create conditions to develop his abilities.
