Once you have received an official approval from our Academy you should apply for:
- Health insurance for the period of the exchange as set out in the approved programme. The insurance should cover medical services in medical institutions of Latvia. You can get advice on health insurance from both our International Department and your Home University. You should hand over a copy of the health insurance to our International Department at least one week before the exchange.
- Accommodation at the time of exchange and provide the proof of estimated accommodation to our International Department. Additional information and advice concerning accommodation are available on our website in the Internet by link.
- Book your round-trip ticket. The copy of the ticket should be submitted to our International Department at least two weeks before the exchange.
In case you apply for a year and you should obtain a temporary residence permit to enter Latvia, you must provide to us the following additional certified documentation:
- Documents of your previous education:
- Certified copies of the Secondary-school certificates/transcripts/the list of exams;
- Certified copies of the Recognized University diploma/certificates/transcripts – for Master’s and PhD Exchange Programmes;
- Health certificate that you can continue your education in EU Universities. The most important is Chest X-ray radiograph (film/picture/CD) and radiologist’s written report;
- The Bank Confirmation Letter of the availability of the minimum of subsistence established by law (minimum 630 euros/month in your personal bank account for the period of stay);
- The Police Clearance Certificate (PCC, valid for 6 months from the date of issue).
Please note that if you apply for a temporary residence permit some of the above-mentioned documents should be legalized at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Latvia in the respective country, or their authenticity should be certified with an Apostille in a competent institution of the foreign country (additional information about legalisation: http://www.am.gov.lv/en/service/consular-services/legalisation/).
Pursuant to the Article 22 of the Visa Code, an in-depth examination is carried out of applications lodged by the nationals of the following states.
We may contact you and your International Department if any additional documentation are required, so keep in touch with your University and check your email.
We will send you a certificate of your acceptance as our exchange student for visa or temporary residence permit processing after the final approval of the documents you have submitted.
