Once you have received official approval from our Academy, you should:
- Buy health insurance which is valid for the exchange period as defined in the approved programme, and covers medical services at Latvian medical institutions. You may seek health insurance advice from our International Department or your Home University. Please provide a copy of your insurance to our International Department at least one week before the exchange.
- Book accommodation at the time of exchange and provide proof of the estimated accommodation to our International Department. Additional information and accommodation advices are available on our website via a link.
- Book your round-trip ticket and submit a photocopy or digital copy of it to our International Department at least 2 weeks before the exchange.
Please provide the following additional certified documents if you are applying for one year and need a temporary residence permit to enter Latvia:
- Documents of your previous education:
- Certified copies of your secondary school certificates/transcripts/a list of your exams are required. Check if any translations are necessary based on your country of origin.
- Certified copies of your diploma/certificates/transcripts from a recognised university - for Master’s Exchange Programmes.
- A health certificate is required to continue your education in EU Universities. The certificate must include a chest X-ray radiograph (film, picture, or CD) and the corresponding radiologist's written report.
- The Bank Confirmation Letter of the availability of the minimum of subsistence established by the law (minimum 780 euros/month in your personal bank account for the period of stay);
- A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) valid for six months from the issued date. Check whether translation or authentication is required for your country.
If you apply for a temporary residence permit, some documents may need to be legalised at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a Diplomatic or Consular mission of the Republic of Latvia in your country. According to Article 22 of the Visa Code, applications from nationals of the following states are subject to close review and in-depth examination.
We may contact you or your International Department to request specific documents if additional documentation is required. Please stay in touch with your University and check your email regularly.
We will send you a certificate confirming your acceptance as our exchange student for visa or temporary residence permit processing once your documents are approved.
