Currency
The official currency of Latvia is Euro (EUR). You can exchange foreign currencies in one of the Latvian bank branches or exchange offices.
It is still common in some places and shops to pay cash, so you can withdraw cash from ATMs and we recommend you to carry some amount of cash.
ATMs are acceptable 24/7 and can be found in the shopping centers and throughout the city.
Many international credit and debit cards as: Visa, MasterCard, American Express are widely accepted and used in Latvia.
It is rather easy to open a bank account in Latvia, but you should have your passport or ID card.
Usually Internet bank comes for free with your bank account.

Normal banking hours are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Some branches especially in shopping centers have extended working hours and are open on Saturdays.
