IV International Scientific and Practical Conference of translators

The IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Multidimensional Translation: From Science to Arts” was held at our academy in a creative and productive atmosphere. It was organised and held by the Baltic International Academy, the European Examination Centre (ECL), the Latvian Association of Interpreters and Translators, Dnipropetrovsk National Technical University, Sakarya University (Turkey).

When opening the conference, Vice-Rector for Science, Associate Professor of the BIA Vladislav Volkov pointed out the increasing importance of translators in the modern world and wished the conference participants productive work.

The conference was attended by theorists and practitioners of modern translation and interpreting, representatives of Latvia, Great Britain, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Romania, Croatia. They shared their work experience and new scientific research findings in the field of translation and interpreting in person and via videoconference.

The conference participants were particularly interested in the experience of teaching audio description at the Baltic International Academy, which was introduced to the translators by the lecturers of the BIA study direction “Translation and Interpreting” Julija Rastorgujeva and Zhanna Daragane.

The workshop on the practical use of audio description, which was conducted by Louise Fryer from UK, the author of the monograph “An Introduction to Audio Description: A practical guide”, was also highly appreciated.

The materials of the scientific and practical conference will be published as a collection of articles.
