Specialists of European studies are expected to have a wide field of nature in foreign institutions - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, departments of Foreign Relations of ministries, various public and business organizations, research institutes and firms. The obtained specialty provides an opportunity to work as advisers in political institutions of different levels, as well as as as consultants, analysts and officials.
Program content
Students acquire knowledge in the directions of the Study Program: general and theoretical basic courses of political science. Among them, compulsory theoretical basic courses, general education training courses and other courses of political science, which provide knowledge of the methodological base and develop basic analytical skills - such as the political anthropology, political philosophy, Latvian politics, theory of politics, political ideologies, comparative politics, international relations theory. In studies, knowledge is also acquired in specialized subjects. These include EU institutions, EU economic and monetary policy, EU legal bases, EU environmental policy, integration of Latvia into the EU, European common external and security policy, EU regional policy, diplomatic protocol, etc.
