Outgoing exchange

This page provides information for students interested in exchange studies at our Partner Universities outside the EU.

The Baltic International Academy collaborates with universities worldwide, including those outside the European Union.

Cooperation with non-EU universities is based on General Cooperation Agreements, Memorandums of Understanding (MoU), or Bilateral Exchange Agreements.

All these agreements offer exchange opportunities. General Cooperation Agreements and MoUs establish broad collaboration frameworks. Bilateral Exchange Agreements, in contrast, specify more detailed terms and conditions when the Academy and Partner University want to set requirements beyond those in the General Cooperation Agreement or MoU.

Bilateral Exchange Agreements specify the study level, number of students, duration, selection criteria, and funding. General Cooperation Agreements allow for exchanges, but the details are decided separately. Some agreements apply to all programmes, while others apply only to certain levels or fields.

Bilateral exchange lets you internationalise your degree by studying abroad at a Partner University for up to one academic year per cycle, under a signed agreement and Individual Learning Agreement. Usually, you do not pay tuition there.

However, you must continue to pay tuition fees to the Academy. The exchange does not cover accommodation, travel, food, insurance, or other personal expenses; you are responsible for these costs.

By joining exchange programmes, you may earn and transfer ECTS credits toward your degree at the Academy. With a properly prepared Individual Learning Agreement, you will not need to extend your study period or take additional courses after the exchange.

The International Departments of both institutions manage the exchange, with support from programme directors, deans, and relevant administrative departments.

Many Partner Universities abroad offer programmes in English, so you have many options, even outside English-speaking countries.

How does it work?

Prospective applicants can access exchange opportunities at more than 250 universities in 25+ countries.

  • General Cooperation Agreements excluding bilateral exchange agreements under the ERASMUS+ Programme or supplementary agreements to them.
